Canada was recognized as the safest country in 2024. It took the lead, overtaking long-time leaders Iceland and Norway. If you are planning to travel next year, you should know the destinations that have been rated as the safest for tourists.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection experts analyzed popular tourist destinations and compiled a ranking of the safest countries in the world. During the research, experts conducted a survey among travelers who visited different countries in the last 5 years. They investigated how safe tourists felt there and whether they encountered any trouble.

The researchers also took into account the Global Peace Index and data from the US State Department's Travel Safety Ratings.

The country is also tolerant of LGBTQ+ travelers, safe for solo travelers, and has a low terrorist threat level. But this does not mean that tourists should forget about basic safety measures. Here too you have to be careful to protect yourself from petty crimes.
