The Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia and the approved schedules, 13,600 flights are scheduled

According to the applications submitted by the airlines to the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia and the approved schedules, 13,600 flights are scheduled to be performed during the active summer navigation season of the current year.

It should be noted that in the period of June-October, the most - 2480 flights from Georgia will be made in the direction of Europe, which is 18% of the total number of flights planned from Georgia and in the direction of Georgia.

The frequency of flights with the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar) is also increasing. In June-October 2024, 2,255 flights are planned between Georgia and the Gulf countries, which is 17% of the total number of flights.

During the same reporting period of the summer navigation season, 1761 flights are planned between Georgia and the Russian Federation, which is 13% of the total number of flights. Flights are operated by three airlines. Flights between Georgia and the Russian Federation are operated only by airlines that are not on the EU blacklist. Flights are also not carried out by aircrafts whose technical support has been discontinued by the aircraft manufacturers, which means limiting access to technical and flight documentation, as well as the supply of spare parts.

According to the mentioned data, out of 13,600 flights planned for the summer navigation season of the current year, flights from Georgia to Europe and vice versa make up 18%, 17% with the Gulf countries, 13% with Russia, and 52% with other countries in total.

It should be noted that this year, the low-budget airline company Transavia of the Kingdom of the Netherlands entered the aviation market, which started regular air traffic from Amsterdam to Tbilisi. Also, after a long-term pause, the Austrian airline company Austrian Airlines resumed operations in Georgia on the Vienna-Tbilisi-Vienna air route. Turkish low-budget airline AJET has started regular flights. During the summer season, 11 airlines will operate flights between Georgia and the European Union in 38 directions.

In January-April 2024, Georgian airports served 1,946,881 passengers with regular and non-regular flights, which is 31% more than the number of passengers received in the same period of 2023 and 34% more than the number of passengers received in January-April 2019.
