got acquainted with the results of the reconstruction works carried out at the Tbilisi International Airport. Today, he inspected the already implemented and current works on the spot, as well as heard information about other infrastructural projects planned in the airport space from the managers of "Tav Georgia" company.


Along with the deputy minister, Givi Davitashvili, director of the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia, and Irakli Karkashadze, director of the Union of Georgian Airports, were also present at Tbilisi Airport.


"Important works were completed at Tbilisi International Airport - the departure terminal was reconstructed, as a result of which the capacity of border and security checkpoints increased by 44%. This is very important for the main airport of our country, because this year we have quite positive expectations that the passenger flow will increase, as well as the number of direct air flights," said the Deputy Minister of Economy.

After the completion of the project, which meant partially filling the openings near the escalators, an additional 220 square meters of space appeared. Accordingly, the number of passport control booths was increased and the aviation security check area was expanded. This significantly improves passenger flow capacity.


The investment cost of the project is 2,200,000 GEL, it includes the works already carried out, as well as the expansion/improvement of the business lounge currently underway, as well as the "fast track" projects, which will allow passengers with special needs and business class to travel as quickly as possible. and pass through security and border checkpoints comfortably.

"Of course, we, together with the operating company, ensure that the Tbilisi International Airport develops continuously, is even more flexible, there are fewer queues, in order to ensure high-quality delivery at the airport", Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
